Zipporah Hinton
Zipporah Hinton was born on 19 May 1738, by her memorial, which also gives her maiden name. She married Jesse Bryan, and they lived in Martin County, North Carolina. Their children were Nathan, born in 1757, Sarah, Phereby and Penny.
On 14 October 1785 she joined her husband in selling 360 acres for 150 pounds and signed with her mark, Ziporah Bryan. Jesse died the next year. His will lent her the rest of his land, the plantation, the stock and the household goods during her widowhood or her life, and afterwards the land went to their daughter Phereby.
Her son Nathan moved his family to Georgia. On 27 October 1792, "in good health and of sound mind," Zipporah made her own will. She left Nathan a feather bed, "all the money of mine that he hath in his possession" and a cow and calf. Her daughter Sarah Parker got a feather bed and furniture, the money Zipporah had in the hands of Elias Bryan, "all the money due me in the State of Georgia except what is in the hands of the said Nathan Bryan," and a heifer. Her daughter Phereby Watson got a mare and colt with a saddle and bridle. The rest was to be shared between Nathan and Sarah. She named James Bennett executor and signed with her mark.
She died on 30 January 1803 in Martin County, by her memorial.
