Alice Hunton
Alice Hunton was born on 14 January 1889 in Arkansas. She was at Fletcher, in the new Comanche County of Oklahoma Territory, by 1908, when on 17 March Joe Robinson, a Texas-born farmer of 21, applied at Lawton for a licence to marry her. The clerk wrote her name Alice Hunter, nineteen, born in Arkansas, of Fletcher. The Rev. H. C. Griffin married them at Fletcher on 18 March 1908, and one of the two witnesses was J. H. Hunton of Fletcher, a man of her own family. When her sons Ernest and Delbert applied for Social Security numbers thirty years later, each gave his mother's name as Alice Hunton.
She bore five children: Glenn about 1909, Ernest Richard, called Bill, in 1913, Leonard, Delbert Neal in 1917 and Lois in October 1919. The family farmed in Brown Township in 1910 and east of Fletcher in Cedar Grove Township from the 1920s. She was widowed on 6 October 1968, after sixty years of marriage, and died on 14 June 1975, aged 86. She was buried beside Joe in the Fletcher Cemetery, block 2, lot 4, space 4.
Her parents have not been found. J. H. Hunton, who witnessed the wedding, is the man to trace.
