Andrew Ford was born at Weymouth, Massachusetts, about 1650. He was the son of Andrew Ford of Weymouth and Eleanor Lovell. He moved to Abington and lived there the rest of his life.

His wife was named Abiah, and she died before him. Their children were Andrew; Sarah, who married a Josling; Thankful, who married Shubael Bearse at Plympton in 1709; Lidiah, who married a Whitmarsh; and Abiah, who married Shubael's brother James Bearse in 1713.

He died at Abington on 24 August 1725. His will was proved on 29 October 1725. It confirmed to his son Andrew, his executor, what he had already been given. To his grandson Hezekiah Ford he left "all my homestead formerly made over to his father by deed," except two acres for his grandson Andrew. A granddaughter, Ruth Ford, had land. He had already given his four daughters, Sarah Josling, Thankful Bearse, Lidiah Whitmarsh and Abiah Bearse, fifteen pounds apiece in land and money, and now he gave them land as well. He also gave land to two grandsons: Jacob Ford, son of Andrew, and Andrew Bearse, Thankful's son.

Almost thirty years later his heirs were still dividing the Abington land. On 23 December 1754 Shubael Bearse and Thankful his wife, and James Bearce and Abiah his wife, all of Halifax, joined with Ebenezer Whitmarsh and others in a release of their interest in eighty one acres at Abington.

Through Thankful's son Hezekiah he was a forebear of the writer Ambrose Bierce.
