Anežka Hulka
Anežka Hulka, Agnes in America, was born about 1843: she was twenty and under age when she married in October 1863. She was the daughter of František Hulka, a familiant of house number 148 at Německá Rybná in the Zamberk district of eastern Bohemia, now Rybná nad Zdobnicí, and of his wife Anna Jakubec of Slatina. Earlier records call her father a cottager, chalupník in Czech; a familiant held one of the small family farms carved out of the lordship's own land in the reforms of the 1770s and 1780s. Her father was dead by the autumn of 1863. On 5 October 1863 she married Vincenc Krčmář, the thirty-year-old familiant of Lhotka no. 22, in the church at Německá Rybná. The district court at Žamberk had given its consent to the marriage of a minor on 22 September. The witnesses were Josef Jakubec, a farmer of Slatina no. 94, the house her mother came from, and Jan Toman, a cottager of Klášterec. Their daughter Anna was born at Lhotka no. 22 on 6 February 1865. The midwife who brought Anna to church was Anna Hulka of Německá Rybná.
About 1866 she crossed to America with her husband and the baby. Frances was born in Iowa about 1869, Mary about 1873, Joseph about 1875 and Frank about 1878, and by the autumn of 1879 the family was in Ellsworth County, Kansas, where Pauline was born. That year her daughter Anna, fifteen, married Frank Sekavec. In June 1880 Agness Krcmar, 42, was keeping house for Vincent and five children in Lincoln and Valley townships. Sixty years later Anna's death certificate in Ohio named her mother as Agnes Hulka. When and where Anežka died is not known.
