Ann Holland

d. 1603
Died 1603
Children include Mary

Ann Holland married Robert Humfrey at Wimbish in Essex in 1600. The marriage is known from Boyd's list of Essex marriages, made in the twentieth century from the parish registers. Robert was a gentleman of Thaxted who later served twice as mayor of the borough.

She bore two daughters at Thaxted. Ann was baptised on 21 September 1601 and Mary on 13 February 1602/3. Ann Holland was buried at Thaxted on 2 June 1603, entered as "Ann Humfrey wife of Robert." Mary was four months old. The Thaxted register gives no cause.

Her husband married twice more and lived until 1638/9. Her daughter Ann married Thomas Clayton at Thaxted in 1623 and had at least nine children. Her daughter Mary married Andrew Warner of Hatfield Broad Oak in 1624 and went with him to New England in 1633.

Her own parents are not known. One Ann Holland was baptised at Wimbish in the right span of years, on 4 August 1586, a daughter of Nicholas Holland. That girl would have been about fourteen in 1600, which is young for a bride. She is a candidate, nothing more.
