Anna Ford
Anna Ford was born in Preston County, in what is now West Virginia, in the spring of 1850. When she married, the clerk wrote her age as "23 years April 2 1874", so her birthday was the second of April, and the 1900 census agrees on April 1850. Her father was a Ford of Preston County. Her mother was Nancy McGee, who married Jacob Price after him, and Anna had a half brother, Jacob Price. Her sisters were Martha J., born on 4 April 1844, who married a Farance; Laura, who married a Buckton and lived at Terra Alta; and Mary O., who married a Haymond. Laura was a Price, a daughter of Jacob Price and Nancy McGee, so she was Anna's half sister through their mother.
On 27 January 1874 she married John Morrison, a Scot from Ayrshire, at the house of Mrs. M. E. Bartlett in Preston County. Both of them were living at Newburg. Samuel Graham married them.
Their first child, Margaret W., was born on 11 July 1875 in Iowa, and the second, Ernest Sylvester, on 12 August 1877 in Preston County. John Allen followed about 1880, then Carl, who died young, and Robert Thomas in October 1885. In 1900 she answered the census taker that she had borne five children and four were living.
By 1894 the Morrisons kept a house at Palatine, on the east bank at Fairmont. When Margaret married Guy F. Leonard there in August 1894, she was nineteen, so the clerk wrote both parents' consent across the top of the licence.
She was a member of the First Methodist Protestant Church at Fairmont for many years. Margaret died in February 1913. A year and a half later Anna was taken ill on a Friday at the house of her son Ernest, and she died there on Sunday evening, 14 June 1914, at half past six. The register gives her age as sixty four years, one month and twelve days. She and John had just built a new house and would soon have moved into it. She was buried from the First M. P. Church in Maple Grove Cemetery, under a stone that calls her Anna, wife of John Morrison.
