Anna Vosecky
Anna Vosecky, Vosecký in the Czech books, was born in 1818 in the Kouřim country west of Kolín in Central Bohemia. Her gravestone gives 4 June 1818 at Dobřichov, the parish village beside Pečky. Her father, Jan Vosecký, was a sedlák, a full peasant farmer, later remembered as of Bošice house number 10. Her mother, Anna Buřič, came from Pečky.
Her father was dead by the summer of 1841. On 30 June that year, at 23, she married Jan Sekavec, 28, the son of a familiant of Chocenice, at Svojšice. The banns were read on three Sundays in June and a marriage permit had been issued on the 16th.
The couple settled at Krychnov, house number 21, where Jan farmed. Her son Frank was born the year after the wedding and Joseph in 1844. Václav, later Winslow, was born at Krychnov on 2 June 1853, and Johanna Anna on 27 August 1857, when she was 39. Both baptisms name her parents, Jan Vosecký of Bošice and Anna Buřič of Pečky.
In 1866, at 48, she crossed the Atlantic with her husband and children to Blue Earth County, Minnesota, and about a dozen years later moved again, to the Bohemian settlement at Holyrood in Ellsworth County, Kansas. Her husband died in March 1881 and she on 19 November the same year, aged 63. Her stone in Palacky Cemetery is hard to read now; a visitor in 2013 made out the inscription with the help of the Ellsworth library's book of cemetery inscriptions.
