Annie C. Welch was born in Iowa in February 1882. In June 1900, aged eighteen, she was living at Woodland Park, in Teller County, Colorado, in the house of Caroline Welsh, who was born in Norway in 1854, with Frank Welsh, twenty-five, born in Wisconsin, and a widowed boarder from Illinois, Levi Westfall, forty-four. Caroline was probably her mother, though the census as read does not say.
She married Levi at Colorado Springs, and had two sons, James Theodore, born in Colorado in 1901, and Orin Kellogg, born in Idaho on 31 May 1904. In 1910 she was at Frontier, a coal camp in Uinta County, Wyoming, with Levi and the boys, and from about 1920 in Montezuma County, Colorado, where the family settled at Lewis. Levi died there in 1937.
She lived another twenty-two years, long enough to see her son Orin's five daughters grow up at Lewis. She died in 1959 and was buried at the Sunnyside Cemetery under a bronze funeral-home marker, ANNIE C. WESTFALL, 1882-1959.
