Barbara Lehmann
Barbara Lehmann was born at Seitingen on 29 October 1772 and baptised that day. The entry reads "Mar: Barbara, Fil: Leg., Antonius Lehman, Anna Braunin ex Seitlingen", the legitimate daughter of Anton Lehmann and Anna Braun. Her godparents were Josephus Kraus and Maria Weldin.
Her father was the village smith, Bürger und Schmied, at Seitingen house number 29. Her mother came from Hofen and was a weaver's daughter. Barbara was the third of six children: Maria, Johann, Barbara, Anton, Elisabeth and Joseph.
On 3 August 1802, at twenty-nine, she married Johann Baptist Schrenk, a farmer of Oberflacht, who was thirty-five. The entry gives her birth date, "n. 1772. 29. 8bris", and names Maria Lehmännin of Seitingen as one of the two witnesses. She went to live at Oberflacht house number 44.
She bore two children there. Maria Anna was born on 13 January 1803. Konrad was born in November 1804 and is marked dead on the family page. Her husband died on 9 October 1806. Barbara died two months later, on 11 December 1806, at thirty-four, and was buried at Seitingen. Her daughter was not yet four. Barbara's mother died thirteen months after her, and her father lived until 1820.
The daughter grew up to marry a Joseph Schrenk from the other Schrenk house of the same village, in 1824. When she was buried in 1867, the clerk gave her parents as Joseph Schrenk and Barbara Schmann. Both names were wrong. They were written sixty years after either parent died.
