Bathsheba Reed was a daughter of William Reed of Weymouth, Massachusetts, and his wife Esther Thompson. Her mother was a granddaughter of Francis Cooke, who came in the Mayflower in 1620. Her father was constable and selectman of Weymouth and a large dealer in land. Her birth is not recorded. Her brothers and sisters included John, born 1680 and again 1687; Jacob, born 1691; Mercy, Mary, Hester and Sarah, born 1694.

About 1699 she married Nicholas Porter, a son of Sergeant John Porter of Weymouth. Their first two children were born at Weymouth: Nicholas in 1700 and William in 1702. About 1705 the family moved to Abington, onto land and a mill lot that her husband's father owned. There she had Bathsheba in 1707, Daniel in 1708, Susannah in 1710, Job about 1713, Esther in 1716, Abner in 1718 and Sarah in 1722. The clerk entered Esther as "Ester, d. Nicholas and Bathsheba, June 20, 1716."

She died before 1725, when her husband married the widow Sarah Noyes.
