Bridget Harris

Bridget Harris was born at Rowley on 26 November 1672, the second child of Nathaniel Harris and Elizabeth Hazen. Her grandfather Edward Hazen had come from Cadney in Lincolnshire and was a Rowley proprietor from about 1646. Her father's mother was another Bridget, Bridget Angier, and the name came down to her that way.

On 30 January 1692/3, at twenty, she married Joseph Boynton, a wheelwright of the town and later deacon of its First Church. Their children were born at Rowley over the following twelve years and more, and two daughters were named Bridget, the first having died.

Her father outlived his own generation and moved about in old age. Nathaniel Harris bought land at York in Maine between 1701 and 1703 and was living there by 1703, and by 1715 he was at Pembroke in Plymouth County, where he sold fifty acres at Coxhall to his son in law John Prichard of Boston. He died back at Rowley on 24 April 1732. Her husband held a right in Coxhall himself.

She was widowed in November 1755 and died on 14 October 1757, aged eighty four.
