Calvin Primrose Dunfee
Calvin Primrose Dunfee was born at Jacobsburg, in Belmont County, Ohio, on 31 May 1889. He went by Prim, from his middle name, and the census of 1920 wrote him down that way. He married Bertha Mae Allen of Washington, Pennsylvania. Their eldest child was born in 1911, and the first children were born in Ohio.
By January 1920 the family had moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania. Prim was 30 and Bertha 28, with five children at home: May, 8, Harold, 6, Robert, 4, Goldie, 3, and Pearl, 1. Many more followed. At least thirteen children are known, born between 1911 and 1936.
In November 1935 Calvin was living at 506 Maple Avenue in the town of Washington when his daughter Pearl, 17, asked to marry Holmes Stoner. On 30 November he went before the clerk of the Orphans' Court and signed his consent. Bertha died in 1958. Calvin died at Waynesburg, Greene County, on 29 November 1963, and was buried beside her at North Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo Township, Washington County. Their stone reads FATHER and MOTHER.
