Pearl Dunfee
Pearl Dunfee was born in Ohio about November 1918. She was the daughter of Calvin Primrose Dunfee and Bertha Mae Allen, in a family that grew to at least thirteen children. By January 1920 the family had moved from Ohio to Washington County, Pennsylvania, and Pearl, 1 year and 2 months old, was living there with her parents and her brothers and sisters May, Harold, Robert and Goldie.
In November 1935, at 17, she married Holmes Stoner, who was 24. Her father, then living at 506 Maple Avenue in the town of Washington, signed his consent before the clerk of the Orphans' Court on 30 November, and the licence was issued on 3 December.
The couple moved to Montgomery County, Maryland, within a year. Their daughter Twyla June was born about 1938 and their son Holmes Jr. about 1942. Holmes was in the Navy from February 1944 to December 1945, leaving Pearl at home with the two children. In 1950 the family was at Olney, where Holmes painted houses. A daughter, Valorie Kay, was born in late 1953 while they lived at Rockville, and there was another child, Holly.
In 1960 Pearl and Holmes lived at 17715 Gashell Road in Olney Acres, and that summer they announced Twyla's marriage to Jack Henry Hirrlinger. Pearl's death notice in the Washington Evening Star gave her name as Pearl M. Stoner of Rockville and named her husband Holmes and her children Holly D. Stoner, Holmes I. Jr., Twyla J. Herrlinger and Valerie K. Stoner.
