Charles Henry Everett
Charles Henry Everett was born in Ohio on 7 June 1860, the son of Thomas H. Everett and his wife Catherine, both Ohio natives. His daughter's death certificate gives his birthplace as Clyde, in Sandusky County. In 1880 he was twenty, single and working at home on his parents' place in Green Creek Township, Sandusky County, the township around Clyde. His brothers James, eighteen, and George, twelve, and his sisters Ida, fifteen, Gustian, ten, and Elizabeth, six, were at home too.
He married Clarissa Reed, called Clara, who had been born near Sandusky in 1856. Their children included Stephen, born in 1882, Anna Augusta on 17 January 1884, William in 1885, Leon and Leyona in 1893, and Louis, and another daughter who later married Ralph David.
Charles died on 24 December 1900, Christmas Eve, aged forty. He was buried in Oakland Cemetery at Sandusky under a small slanted stone carved FATHER, with the words "Gone but not forgotten." Clara lived another thirty two years and was buried beside him under a matching stone marked MOTHER.
