Charles Lamore
Charles Lamore was born in Canada about 1881 and came to the United States in 1896. His first language was French. He married Mary Louise Obin, who had come from Canada with her parents in 1889.
In 1910 he and Mary were living at Halifax, in Plymouth County, with a baby son. That son, Joseph Wilfred, had been born at Duxbury on 4 July 1909. The family moved between the neighbouring towns of Duxbury, Hanover and Pembroke. A daughter, Mary Louise Leona, was born at Hanover on 19 May 1911 and died at Duxbury on 10 August 1913, aged two. A month before her death another daughter, Mary Dora, was born at Hanover on 4 July 1913. Rose Alma followed at Pembroke on 19 November 1916 and Mary Avon there on 16 March 1919.
In January 1920 Charles was 39 and renting a house at Pembroke. He worked as a labourer in a box factory. His household was a large one: his wife, his children Wilfred, Dora, Lawrence and Rosamond, his stepdaughter Mary L., 17, and his wife's parents, John and Pauline Obin. His father-in-law, at 72, also worked in a box factory. A baby of Charles and Mary died at Pembroke on 21 August 1921.
