Delilah McCracken
Delilah McCracken was born about 1803 at Brownsville, a town on the Monongahela River in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Her maiden name and birthplace come from the death certificate of her daughter Sarah Colville in 1913. Her parents are not named in any record found.
She married Uriah Patrick, who owned a lot in Uniontown, the Fayette County seat, from 1816 to 1818. Their son William was born about 1823. By March 1825 they were at Mount Vernon in Knox County, Ohio, where their daughter Sarah was born. The family settled in Pleasant Township. In 1850 the household held Uriah, Delilah and seven children: William, Hannah J., John, Robert F., Josiah C., David L. and Mary J.
Uriah died before December 1853. In 1857 his administrators petitioned to sell his land, naming her as "Delila Patrick Widow," and the court set her dower at $14 a year. A dower was the widow's lifetime share in her husband's land. She was still in Pleasant Township, a widow, in 1860 and 1870. She died in 1878 and was buried at Mount Vernon.
