Dickson G. H. Bradshaw was born in North Carolina about 1814. In 1840 a Dickson Bradshaw was heading a household in Duplin County, in the coastal plain of southeastern North Carolina.
He married Elizabeth, called Betsy, also born in North Carolina about 1814; her daughter's grave memorial gives her maiden name as Whitman. In the 1850 census the family was at Duplin Roads, in Duplin County. Dickson was 36 and Betsy 36. With them were James B., 10, Nancy, 6, Rebecca, 5, Barbara, 5, Elizabeth, 2, and Samuel Evans, 17, all born in North Carolina.
Within two years the Bradshaws had moved to Florida. Public land was assessed to Dickson G. H. Bradshaw on 1 December 1852 and to Dickson Bradshaw on 20 February 1854. They settled in Volusia County, the new county along the St. Johns River, and his daughter Barbara lived the rest of her life there. In 1860 the census found D. G. H. Bradshaw, 46, and Elizabeth, 46, in Volusia County with Enoch B., 22, Nancy, 17, Rebeckah, 16, Barbara, 16, and Elizabeth, 12.
In 1866 Barbara married Robert Rowan Raulerson, and the couple farmed at Seville. Her death certificate of 1924 names her father as D. G. H. Bradshaw, born in North Carolina. Her son Robert Dixon Raulerson carried a form of his name.
