Dora Socha was born in New York about 1886 to parents who had come from Poland. Before 1908 she married Louis Suchocki, a laborer from Poland, and they made their home in East New York, Brooklyn. Their first child, Walter, was born on 29 July 1908, and seven more followed: Stanley, Martha, Frances, Anthony, Helen, Adam and Joseph. Martha, born on 7 November 1911 at the family's tenement at 182 Sheffield Avenue, died there seven weeks later.
Louis died at Kings County Hospital on 25 May 1927. In April 1930 Dora, 45 and widowed, headed a house in Brooklyn with seven children still at home, from Walter, 21, to Joseph, 10. By 1940 Walter had married and gone to Queens, and Dora, 54, kept house in the twentieth assembly district with her sons Stanley, Adam and Joseph, Stanley's wife Dorothy and their two small boys. Dorothy died that November.
In April 1950 she was Dora A. Suchocki, 62, living at Hempstead in Nassau County in the house of her widowed son Stanley, a clerk in the Post Office, and his two sons. She died in 1964 and was buried with Louis at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery in Brooklyn.
