Douglas Alfred Puckett
Born on 31 December 1853 in Georgia, and known all his life as Dug. He worked land on both sides of the Henry and Rockdale county line and moved back and forth across it for fifty years.
In 1880 he is in militia district 491 of Henry County with his wife Lucinda, born in March 1850 and written down by that enumerator as Lucima, and four children: Henry, Ida R., John S. and James. By 1900 the family is at Honey Creek in Rockdale County, the wife entered as L. C., with John S., Beokia, Jim, Rollie, Ollie, Bab, William and Grady in the house. In 1910 he is back in Henry County, at Shake Rag, entered as Alfred D. Puckett, with Robert F., William D. and Samuel G. at home and a Mary O. of their own age in the house. In 1920 he is in militia district 888 of Henry County with a second wife, Ada, and in that same district that year his son Grady is keeping his own house with a wife and a baby.
He died on 17 December 1935, a fortnight short of his eighty second birthday, and was buried at Scarbrough Cross Roads in Henry County. His death record names his father as John Puckett and gives his mother only as a Miss Sims.
