Edward Eugene "Rocky" Hobbs
Edward Eugene Hobbs, known as Rocky, was born on 6 August 1958 at Anna, the county seat of Union County in the far south of Illinois. His parents were Charles R. Hobbs and Neva Deleen Davis, whose family had lived at Cobden, a few miles north of Anna, since at least the 1930s.
In March 1973, at fourteen, he applied for a Social Security number and named his parents as Charles R. Hobbs and Neva D. Davis.
As a young man he went south to Louisiana. He married Janice Dianne Robertson of Tangipahoa Parish, the only daughter of Ross Robertson of Hillsdale, an ironworker. Their daughter Kim was born in 1978. His father died in Illinois in 1982 and his mother in 1989.
Rocky Hobbs died on 14 July 1995 at Independence, Tangipahoa Parish, at the age of 36. He was buried in Hillsdale Baptist Church Cemetery at Hillsdale, in neighboring St. Helena Parish, among his wife's Robertson family. Her father Ross, who named Rocky as his late son-in-law in his own obituary, was buried there in December 2010, and Janice after her death at the end of 2011.
