Edward Mason Thurber
Edward Mason Thurber was born on 19 July 1877 at Cranston, Rhode Island, the son of Francis Wheaton Thurber and Sarah Elizabeth Thurber. His name wandered through the records. His birth was registered as Edgar, his marriage as Edwin, and everything else, his draft card and his cemetery lot among them, as Edward. In 1880 the family was at Rehoboth, Massachusetts, where he was Eddie, two years old, with his brother Charles and sister Nellie. His mother died in 1892, when he was fifteen.
On 31 January 1901, at Norton, he married Nora Giblin, nineteen, the daughter of William Giblin and Mary Foster. They settled at Attleboro, and their children were Sarah Gertrude, born 1903, Ruth Ellen, born 1907, Howard Mason, William Edward, and Mildred Louise, born 11 March 1910. He registered for the draft at Attleboro in 1917 or 1918, giving his birth as 10 July 1877.
Nora died on 16 October 1918. In January 1920 Edward had the five children at home, Gertrude, Ruth, Howard, William and Mildred. He died at Attleboro on 31 January 1928, at fifty, and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro, in lot 820, beside Nora. The lot has no marker; the stone on the next lot, 821, names his parents, grandparents and two of his brothers.
