Eliezer Churchill
Born at Plymouth on 20 April 1652, the third child of John Churchill the immigrant and Hannah Pontus, and the son who stayed. His father's spoken will of December 1662 left the uplands and meadows within the Plymouth township to him and his elder brother Joseph, and by that will and later arrangements with his mother and the other heirs, he came into possession of the part of the homestead at Hobb's Hole containing the old house, the building his father had bought from Richard Higgins in 1645. A strip thirty feet wide next to Branch Blackmer was added by grant of the town in 1709, made for him to erect a warehouse upon. He was admitted freeman at Plymouth in 1683 and died about 1716.
He married twice. His first wife is recorded only as Mary, with no surname, and gave him six children between 1676 and 1687. On 8 February 1688 he married Mary Doty, a daughter of the Mayflower passenger Edward Doty, and their eldest child Mary married Edward Stevens.
His brother William took the outlying Punkatussett land and became the first settler of Plympton, and the two brothers' descendants married each other in 1792.
