Daughter of William Pontus of the Leyden congregation, born about 1623 in Holland or in England, and married at Plymouth to John Churchill on 18 December 1644. She was widowed on the first day of 1662/3 with six children, the eldest about sixteen, and her husband's spoken will left her the use and improvement of the whole property for as long as she lived. The new house he had built was to go to their son Joseph only at her death.

She held it for six and a half years and then married Giles Rickard as his third wife, in June 1669. She outlived him too, by six years, and died at Hobb's Hole on 22 December 1690 in her sixty seventh year, in the same corner of Plymouth she had been brought to as a bride. Her father had come out of the Pilgrim company at Leyden that never sailed on the Mayflower, which puts her one step from the congregation the colony was built out of and no step at all from the ship.
