Elizabeth Harvey
Elizabeth was the wife of Thomas Harvey of Taunton, in the Plymouth Colony. Her maiden name and her parents are not known. Their son Thomas was born about 1643. Her husband died in 1651, aged about thirty-four, and she was left a widow with young children.
In March 1652/3 Henry Andrews of Taunton made his will. He left a cow to her: "Item I give unto Elizabeth harvy Widdow one of the poore of the church of Christ in Taunton aforsaid a Cow which is now in the keepinge of George Macey which said Cow my will is shall belonge unto her children". The will was brought into court on 6 June 1653. She was the only Harvey widow at Taunton at the time, so the cow was almost certainly hers.
A Harvey family history of 1899 calls her Henry Andrews's sister. It quotes the bequest as a gift "to his sister Elizabeth Harvey, widow". The will itself does not say so. It names Henry's wife Mary, his son Henry and his daughters Mary Hedges, Sarah and Abigail, and no sister.
After 1651 she married a second husband, Francis Street of Taunton. The 1899 history gives them a daughter, Mary Street. By 1665 she was a widow again. On 10 December 1665 she married Thomas Lincoln Sr., the miller of Taunton. The Taunton register reads "Thomas Linkoln, Senir, married to Elizabeth Street, widdow, the 10th December, 1665."
The same history says she made an affidavit in 1704 that she was ninety years old, and that she died in the summer of 1717 "aged one hundred and three years". It cites papers that were then kept at Taunton City Hall.
