Second wife of Daniel Shed of Billerica, the first of that name in New England. His first wife was Mary, who bore his children at Braintree until October 1658; Elizabeth is the wife he married after her, and she is the mother of Nathan Shed, born in 1668, the youngest son who took the homestead.

Nothing of her own is recorded except the end of it. The Billerica deaths enter her on 17 January 1699/1700 as Elisabeth, wife of Daniell Sr., which is how the clerk distinguished the old man from his son Daniel Junior. She had been on the homestead on the Concord River for something like forty years by then, and for the last six of them under the agreement of 27 March 1694 by which her husband had signed the place over to Nathan in exchange for the maintenance of himself and his wife. That clause, and his wife, is the nearest thing to a description of her that exists. Her husband outlived her by eight years.

Her surname is not proved. Her birth and her age are unrecorded, and her marriage is known only as 1659, from the 1921 Shedd genealogy.
