Ellen D. Raulston
Ellen D. Cluck, called Ella, was born on 24 July 1861 in Tennessee. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Cluck, an Alabama-born farmer who rode with the 4th Alabama Cavalry in the Civil War, and Malinda J. Russell, who had married him in December 1859. In 1870 the family was living in Civil District 11 of Marion County, Tennessee: Andrew, 32, Malinda, Ellen, 10, and her younger brother and sister, James, 9, and Fanny, 7.
In 1877 she married Robert S. Raulston, a Marion County farmer from the same district and the eldest son of Hugh Lawson White Raulston. Their children were Van Wyrick Raulston (1877 to 1933), Fannie Ann Raulston, later Kelly (1879 to 1966), Walter William Raulston (1880 to 1957), and Ellen Texas Raulston, born in January 1892, who carried her mother's name.
Ella died on 24 July 1892, her 31st birthday, about six months after her youngest daughter was born. She is buried in the Raulston Cemetery in Marion County. Robert remarried in 1893.
