Emile E. Bordelon
Emile E. Bordelon was born on 16 October 1856 at Marksville, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. His parents are not yet proved. The likeliest are Evariste L. Bordelon (1834 to 1896) and Lovenia Juneau (1837 to 1908), who lie in the same Marksville churchyard, and through Evariste the line would run to Louis L. Bordelon (1795 to 1877) and Catherine Lemoine.
On 18 October 1883, in Avoyelles Parish, he married Irma Moreau, and they raised a large family in Marksville town. The census of June 1900 found them in Ward 2, Precinct 1: Emile, 44, Irma, 40, and eight children, Gervais, born March 1884, Albert, January 1886, Cecile, March 1888, Robert, January 1889, Rosa, December 1890, Annette, May 1892, Samuel, November 1893, and Emma, January 1898. Two more sons, George Emile in 1904 and Paul Emile in 1906, came after the census. Irma's memorial calls her the mother of eleven.
His daughter Cecile married George A. Sherman in January 1908 and spent her whole life in Marksville. Emile died there on 14 November 1940, aged 84, and was buried in plot 1695 of Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, beside Irma's plot. His grave is marked by a concrete cross whose lettering has weathered away.
