Esther S. Bloomquist
Esther S. Bloomquist was born in Sweden on 23 August 1889. Her parents and her parish there have not been found; every American census taker who met her wrote only Sweden. She was in Hartford, Connecticut, by 1909, when at nineteen she married Harry Arthur Waters, a Hartford man of 25. Their first child, Anna Elizabeth, was born on 24 July 1909.
For the next twenty years there was a new baby in the house every two years or so: Robert in 1910, then Dorothy, Arlene, Helen, Eugene, Alice, Henry, Evelyn, Frances, and Donald about 1930. In April 1930 ten children were at home with her and Harry, and Anna was already married to Russell Furman. Her husband died in July 1946. She lived another thirty-six years, through the deaths of her daughters Anna in 1976 and Alice in 1978, and died at Hartford on 30 June 1982, aged 92. She was buried at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill, section 25, lot 793.
