Eunice Bascom

Born, by the Strong genealogy, on 12 January 1732, a daughter of Daniel Bascom of Lebanon in Connecticut and his first wife, Elizabeth French. The Strong genealogy names her mother as Mary Bliss, daughter of the Reverend John Bliss of Hebron, but Mary Bliss was born in 1718 and did not marry Daniel Bascom until 1750. She married Joel Strong, one of the twins born at Hebron on 1 May 1733, and the couple farmed at Hebron before removing to Granville in Massachusetts, of which he was one of the first settlers.

Seven children are credited to them, and the genealogist who recorded the family admitted plainly that he did not know the order of their births. Only Eleazer has a birth date, 26 September 1763. Her husband was badly injured by the fall of a tree, and at about seventy was disabled by paralysis; he died on 25 November 1808 aged seventy five. She outlived him by more than six years and died on 13 April 1815, aged eighty three by the Strong genealogy and eighty four by her gravestone.
