Frances Savage was born on 6 January 1828, by her memorial, in Warren County, Tennessee. She was called Franky or Frankie. Her parents were Sterling King Savage, a farmer born in North Carolina, and Martha Pope, born in Georgia.
In August 1850 she was living on her parents' farm in District 4 of Grundy County, on the Cumberland Plateau. The census taker wrote her as Franka Savage, 19, with Sterlin, 70, Martha, 59, her brother Jesse, 38, her sister Brittana, 25, and a young farm hand. Her father died in 1854.
She married George W. Walker about 1853. In 1860 the couple were both 32 and living in the Fourth District of Sequatchie County with their sons Leroy, 6, and Warren B., 2. Three more children followed: Martha, George W. and Nancy.
By 1880 George had died. That June the census taker found Franky Walker, 52, heading her own household in District 4 of Sequatchie County. She said her father had been born in North Carolina and her mother in Georgia. Her son Warren, 22 and single, worked the farm as a farm laborer. Martha, 16, George W., 13, and Nancy, 11, were at home. Two years later, on 22 November 1882, Warren married Myra Elizabeth Williams at Cagle.
Frances died at Dunlap on 6 October 1903, aged 75. She is buried in the Savage Cemetery in Sequatchie County, with her parents and her sister Brittania. When Warren died in 1915, his death certificate gave his mother's maiden name as Frankie Savage.
