Frank Frederick Kuehl was born in Germany on 19 September 1888. Both his parents were German. In 1895, when he was six, he came to America, and he grew up in northern Illinois. He had a sister, Mary, and brothers William and Otto.
Frank married Mildred I. Daughenbaugh, an Illinois girl four years younger. Their first son, LeRoy, was born in 1910. Genevieve was born that year and Ralph, called Mike, in 1924.
The marriage ended. Mildred married Ralph Lloyd Penticoff and raised a second family, and Frank married a woman named Margaret. He lived to eighty-one and died at Freeport on 3 December 1969. He is buried at Oakland Cemetery. At his death his children were listed as Edward, LeRoy, Ralph and Albert, and three daughters by their married names: Mrs. George Ryan, Mrs. Roger Schoch and Mrs. William Jacobs.
