Franz Joseph Müller

Einbach, Odenwald, Baden
Children include Eva, Eva

Franz Joseph Müller was a farmer and Bürger of Einbach, a village in the Odenwald hills of northern Baden. A Bürger held the citizen's rights of the village. His father, Johann Müller, was a Gerichtsmann, a juror of the village court, and his mother was Maria Barbara, who died in January 1814. The records call him Franz Müller in 1800 and 1832 and Franz Joseph Müller in 1814.

On 29 July 1800 he married Anna Maria Schwab, a daughter of Kaspar Schwab, the headman of Donebach in the neighbouring parish of Mudau. The Latin entry in the Limbach parish book names him "Franciscus Müller," son of "Joannis Müller," and her the daughter of "Casparus Schwab." Einbach had no church of its own. Its records were kept at Limbach and its weddings and burials took place at Waldhausen. A database compiled from the same film dates the wedding 21 July 1800 at Waldhausen, and the two dates may be the banns and the wedding.

Four children followed. Eva Katharina was born about 1804, Maria Anna about 1809, Johann Josef on 13 December 1810 and Maria Christina on 17 April 1812. Maria Anna died young, and her grandfather Johann stood as a witness at her burial in 1810, by the compiled database. Eva Katharina married Franz Amor Hess of Neubrunn at Waldhausen on 21 February 1832, entered as the lawful daughter of Franz Müller of Einbach and Anna Maria born Schwab. The groom had been admitted a Bürger of Einbach so that he could settle and marry there. The Müllers were the settled side of the match.

He died between the middle of 1811 and July 1814. On 26 July 1814 his widow married Sebastian Schork at Waldhausen, and the priest wrote her as "des verstorbenen Franz Joseph Müller Bürgers und Bauern in Einbach hinterlassene Wittwe," the widow left behind by the late Franz Joseph Müller, citizen and farmer of Einbach. She was excused the usual year of mourning, which suggests he had not been dead long. His father stood as a witness. Einbach's death register has no entry for him in 1811, 1812, 1813 or the first seven months of 1814, so he probably died away from the village. Where and how is not known.
