Maria Barbara Müller
Maria Barbara was the wife of Johann Müller, a farmer and juror of the village court at Einbach in the Odenwald. She was born about 1754, by her age at her death.
Her maiden name is not known. Her marriage to Johann probably took place in the parish of Limbach, which kept Einbach's marriages, some time around 1770 to 1776, but it is not in that church book. Two Einbach men named Müller had wives called Maria Barbara, and both women died in 1814. She is the elder of the two, and the wife of the juror.
Her son Franz Joseph married Anna Maria Schwab of Donebach in July 1800. Four grandchildren followed: Eva Katharina about 1804, Maria Anna about 1809, who died young, Johann Josef in December 1810 and Maria Christina in April 1812.
She died at Einbach on 8 January 1814. The priest wrote: "Im Jahre 1814 d. 8ten Jäner in der Nacht um 11 Uhr ist zu Einbach verstorben Maria Barbara des Johann Müller Gerichtsmann alda Ehefrau 60 Jahre alt, welche d. 10ten desselben frühe um 10 Uhr von mir in Waldhausen beerdiget worden. Zeugen sind Nikolaus Leimer und Johann Brauch, beide Bürger und Bauern in Einbach." In English: in the year 1814, on 8 January, at eleven at night, Maria Barbara, wife of Johann Müller, Gerichtsmann there, sixty years old, died at Einbach. She was buried by the priest at Waldhausen at ten in the morning on the 10th. The witnesses were Nikolaus Leimer and Johann Brauch, both citizens and farmers of Einbach.
Within the year her husband married again. The priest who entered that wedding in October 1814 named her once more, as "der verstorbenen Maria Barbara Müllerin in Einbach," the late Maria Barbara Müller of Einbach.
