Gerald B. Wohlford
Gerald B. Wohlford was born on 2 June 1914 in Jackson Township, Huntington County, Indiana. His family and friends called him Tiny, and the name is cut into his grave memorial as Gerald B. "Tiny" Wohlford.
On 23 November 1939 he married Velma B. Heinlein at the Zion parsonage in Huntington County. The date is carved on their shared stone with two linked rings: "Married Nov. 23, 1939." Velma was the only daughter of Charles Loriston Heinlein and Gladys Anna Miller of Clear Creek. Her mother had died when she was thirteen.
Their one child, Robert Wohlford, was born at Huntington about 1943.
On 14 April 1950 the census taker came to the house at 352 Allen Street in Huntington. Gerald was the head of the house and gave his age as 32. He was working as a cabinet finisher for a radio cabinet company and had put in 44 hours the week before. Velma kept house, and Robert was six. Gerald, Velma and Robert were all born in Indiana.
The family stayed at Allen Street. In November 1973, when word came from Florida that Velma's father had died at Sarasota, the Huntington paper reported it as news received by "Mrs. Gerald (Velma) Wolford, 352 Allen Street."
Gerald died at Huntington on 3 June 1991, the day after his 77th birthday. He is buried in Union Cemetery in rural Huntington County. Velma outlived him by eighteen years and was buried beside him in 2009.
