Gertrudis van Horen
Gertrudis van Horen was born at Belfeld, on the Maas River north of Venlo in Limburg, on 18 April 1801. Her father was Claudius van Horen. Her mother is named Cecilia Mans in her death and second marriage records and Aulia Mans in her first.
On 24 November 1831, at 30, she married Mathijs Lankes, a farmer of Belfeld. They had several children. The youngest known, Wendelina Hubertina, was born on 13 January 1845, when Gertrudis was 43.
Mathijs died in March 1851. Some years later, at 53, Gertrudis married Albertus Houzer, a 46-year-old day laborer of Belfeld and son of Jan Houzer and Christina Hinsen. She was described as an akkervrouw, a woman who worked the fields.
In April 1874 her daughter Wendelina married Jacobus van Densen of Blerick at Belfeld. Gertrudis died at Belfeld on 19 October 1878, aged 77, as the wife of Albertus Houzer. Her grandson Laurens Matheus van Densen was born at Blerick two months later.
