Henry Casselberry, also written Hendrick, lived in Providence Township in Philadelphia County. He was almost certainly the Hendrick Kasselberg who was living at Germantown by 1691, and his family came from the Lower Rhine.

Germantown lay a few miles north of Philadelphia. It was settled from 1683 by Mennonite and Quaker families from Krefeld and the neighbouring towns of the Lower Rhine. In 1691 a group of its residents sought naturalization, which would give them the rights of English subjects, among them a secure title to their land. Samuel W. Pennypacker's history of the town, printed in 1899, names Hendrick Kasselberg among them.

The Mennonites were Anabaptists, Protestants who baptized only adult believers. A list of the members of the Germantown Mennonite congregation on 23 May 1708, printed by the Baptist historian Morgan Edwards, includes a Catharine Kasselberg. Wenger's history of the Mennonites of the Franconia Conference, printed in 1938, groups Hendrick with the settlers from the Lower Rhine. It lists "Catherine Kasselberg of Backersdorf, Germany" among the members by 1708.

The match to Henry Casselberry of Providence rests on three things. The surname is found nowhere else in the province. The pair of names is the same, Hendrick and Catharine. And their son was named Dirck, a name common among the Lower Rhine Mennonites. It is a strong identification, though no single document joins the two.

He made his will on 16 August 1729 and it was proved on 4 September, so he wrote it dying. It names his wife Katherine, four sons and four daughters, and splits everything between the two eldest sons. He signed with his initials.

The family stayed Mennonite. In 1801 a later Derrick Casselberry was a trustee of the burying ground of the "Dutch Anabaptist Society" at Worcester, the Methacton meeting.
