Henry Lindaberry

d. 1809
Died 1809
Children include John

Henry Lindaberry held lot No. 3 among the early farms of German Valley, in northwest New Jersey, and later lived in Lebanon township, Hunterdon County. A history of the valley's German families, published in 1895, calls him "the ancestor of those of his name in Tewksbury township and in Morris county."

The family came from Germany as Leinenberger. Conrad and Nicholas Linenbergh landed at Philadelphia from the ship Two Brothers and took the oaths at the courthouse on 15 September 1752, each signing with a mark, beside the Dils and Aller families who also settled in that part of New Jersey. The 1895 history thought Henry was probably Conrad's son, and said frankly that "it has been impossible to get any very complete information of the older generations of this family."

His wife was probably named Catherine. He had eight children: Conrad, born in 1785, of Pleasant Grove; Jacob, born on 8 July 1788; Harbert, born about 1789; Ann, who married Tunis Updike; Caspar, born on 29 March 1795, who lived at Cokesburg and died on 27 May 1897 at the age of 102; John, who married Betsey Rodenbaugh; George H., born on 17 July 1799, of Fairmount; and Eva, who married Peter Hockenberry of Fairmount.

He died without a will in 1809. His estate in Lebanon township was inventoried on 19 August 1809 at $675.20, and on 2 September his sons John and Jacob swore to the inventory as administrators. His son Caspar helped value it, and both appraisers signed with a mark. In the probate papers the family name was still written Linaberger.
