Henry Squire
Henry Squire was born about 1563 at Charlton Mackrell in Somerset. In a deposition of 1580 he appears as a "husbandman of Moorlinch, aged about sixteen".
He had five daughters baptised at Charlton Mackrell, each entered to "Henry SQUIRE": Edith on 29 May 1587, Sarah on 6 April 1589, Ann on 30 November 1591, Margaret on 25 April 1596 and Frances on 3 February 1597/8. His wife's name has not been found.
By 1614 he was a blacksmith at Kingweston. That year his daughter Ann married Aquila Purchase, and Henry signed their marriage bond with his mark, as "blacksmith of Kingweston". His daughter Edith had married Henry Adams of Barton St David in 1609.
Three of his daughters went to New England. Ann went to Dorchester with Aquila Purchase in 1633. Edith followed in 1638 with her husband and eight children, and Margaret, the wife of John Shepherd, came the same year.
On 25 December 1649 a Boston notary wrote of "Henry Squire late of Kinweston neere Somerton in Somersetshire". His death has not been found.
Bartlett suggested that his father was probably the Rev. William Squire, rector of Charlton Mackrell from about 1545 to 1567. No record names the relationship.
