Ida D. Hopkins
Ida D. Hopkins was born on 17 April 1885 at Ramsey, Kentucky. On 11 January 1911 she married William Benton Hopkins, a Missouri-born farmer two years older, and their daughter Gladys was born at the end of that year, on 27 December 1911. A family record of the Aimes family gives Gladys's birthplace as Farlington, Crawford County, Kansas, and names her mother as Ida Miller.
Ida and William farmed for many years around Savonburg in Allen County, Kansas. In about 1967 they moved to Mulvane, where Gladys lived with her husband Dwight Aimes and waited tables at the D & L Cafe. William died there on 2 October 1969.
Ida died at Mulvane on Tuesday 23 December 1969, aged 84, less than three months after him. The notice named her husband William, who had died on 2 October, and her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Ames of Mulvane. The service was at 3 p.m. on the Friday at the Senter Mulvane Mortuary, and she was buried beside William in Mulvane Cemetery. Their stone gives her name as Ida D., under the word Mom.
