Born 1633, probably England
Father: Dea. Joseph Mygatt
Mother: Ann Mygatt

Jacob Mygatt was the only son of Joseph and Ann Mygatt. In 1667 he gave his age as thirty four, so he was born about 1633. His parents crossed in the Griffin that year, and Savage thought he was born in England.

He grew up at Cambridge, then called Newtown, and went with his parents in 1636 when Thomas Hooker's congregation moved to found Hartford on the Connecticut River. His one sister, Mary, married John Deming the younger in 1657.

About the end of 1654 he married Sarah Whiting, a daughter of the late Major William Whiting, who had been Treasurer of Connecticut. They had only two children, Joseph and Sarah.

Both of them married into the family of Lt. Robert Webster of Hartford. Joseph married Robert's daughter Sarah in November 1677. Sarah married Robert's eldest son, John Webster. So a brother and sister married a sister and brother.

Jacob died in middle age. His widow married John King of Northampton in 1683 and died in 1706.
