James Homer Wilcox
James Homer Wilcox was born in Kansas on 5 May 1893, by his Social Security record, the son of A. J. Wilcox, an Ohio man, and his wife Mary, from West Virginia. The family moved to Oklahoma Territory before 1897, and in April 1910 James Homer, 16, was on his parents' farm in Crowell Township, Major County, with his brother Clarence Allen, 13, and sister Mary Emily, 9. On 21 May 1914, in Major County, Oklahoma, he married Elsie Viola Vannostrand, a Kansas girl two or three years older. Their daughter Icy Vera was born at Fairview nine months later, on 23 February 1915.
In January 1920 the family was in Major County: James, 25, Elsie, 26, both born in Kansas, and three children, Isa, 5, who was Icy, Laurence, 4, and Locie, 2. Locie Allen Wilcox and another son, L. E. Wilcox, later named James H. Wilcox and Elsie Vannostrand as their parents on their Social Security applications, as Icy did on hers. Nothing later has been found for him.
