James Moulton
James Moulton was baptized at Salem, Massachusetts, in 1638, the eldest son of James Moulton and his wife Mary, who had come from Norfolk, England, the year before. The Conant genealogy gives the baptism as 7 January 1638; Moulton Annals gives 7 March 1637. He moved with his father to Wenham, a farming village carved out of Salem.
On 10 February 1662 he married Elizabeth Adams at Wenham. The court record entered it as "Elizabeth, and James Moulton, Feb. 10, 1662." He was made a freeman of the colony, with the right to vote, on 11 September 1665.
Two sons were recorded at Wenham: James on 8 March 1666 and John on 4 October 1668. Moulton Annals names also Jonathan, William and Elizabeth. Jonathan married Sarah Herrick at Salem in 1699 and died in 1726. William married twice, the second time to Jane Conant, daughter of Exercise, and died at Ipswich in 1763. John married Jane's sister Sarah.
James Moulton died at Wenham on 24 October 1696. His will was probated on 14 December 1696. It gave his wife "the improvements of the house, lands, etc." and mentioned the children. His estate was valued at 215 pounds 15 shillings 6 pence.
