Jane died in Cromwell Township on 30 May 1848, when her youngest child was about two. She was buried in the Jordan Cemetery. Her stone reads "Jane E. Wife of Wm. Booth DIED May 30. 1848 Aged about 39 Yr." Her daughter Elizabeth died the same year. Her father died that October on his farm in Wayne Township and left a large estate.
