Johann Jakob Gutbrodt
Johann Jakob Gutbrodt was born about 1773, the son of Johann Martin Gutbrodt and his wife Anna Maria. He lived at Kusterdingen, a village a few miles east of Tübingen in Württemberg. The village church was Evangelical, the Lutheran state church of Württemberg, and its books recorded every baptism, marriage and burial.
On 19 February 1798 he married Anna Maria Wandel at Kusterdingen. The clerk entered the groom as the son of "Joh. Mart. Gutbrodt" and the bride as "Anna Maria Wandelin", daughter of Joh. Georg Wandel. Their children's entries give the mother's given names only. But only one Johann Jakob Gutbrodt and Anna Maria were baptising children in the village in these years, and every one of those children came after this wedding. So the bride of 1798 is very probably the mother of them all.
The children came over seventeen years. Anna Maria was born in 1799 and died in 1822. Johann Georg came on 12 January 1802 and Anna Margaretha on 26 August 1804. Johann Martin was baptised on 16 September 1807, and the clerk wrote his father as plain Jakob. Anna Barbara followed on 21 May 1809 and Barbara on 8 December 1811. Charlotte was born about 1811 or 1812, and a second Johann Georg about 1815.
On 13 August 1834 his son Johann Martin married Anna Ebinger, and the marriage entry names the groom's parents as Johann Jakob Gutbrodt and Anna Maria. Ten weeks later, on 31 October 1834, Johann Jakob was buried at Kusterdingen. The burial entry gives his birth as about 1773 and names his own parents. A compiled family tree gives his dates as 1772 to 1834.
Two of his daughters married into the Grauer family of the same village. Barbara married Johann Jakob Grauer in 1843, and Charlotte was the wife of a Joh. Jakob Grauer when she was buried in 1880.
