Johanna T Tiemeyer
Johanna Tena Tiemeyer, called Jo, was born on 6 April 1923 at Cutlerville, a Dutch farming settlement on the Kalamazoo road south of Grand Rapids. She was the third of the seven children of John Lambert Tiemeyer, who had come from Veendam in Groningen as a boy of six, and Rose Jacoba Van Tuinen, the Grand Rapids-born daughter of a Frisian schoolmaster's family. Her father managed the farm of the hospital at Cutlerville from 1942. Her brothers and sisters were Lena (1919-2011), who married John Brock and served thirty-two years as Gaines Township treasurer, Marie (1921-2014), who married Russell Ezinga, John Wesley (1924-1998), Gertrude Nella (1926-2001), who married a Kramer, Peter William, called Pat (1929-2015), and Jack Lambertus (1931-2005). The family worshipped at Cutlerville East Christian Reformed Church, where the funerals of her sister Lena and brother Pat were later held.
She married Ralph Lodric Little of Flint in 1961, at thirty-eight. Their daughter Barbara was born at Muskegon the next year. By January 1964 the family was living at Muskegon, where Ralph died in December 1991.
Johanna died at Muskegon on 2 July 2001, aged seventy-eight, and was buried beside Ralph in Fruitport Cemetery under their shared stone. When her brother Pat died in 2015 his obituary said he had been preceded in death by six brothers and sisters; she was one of them.
