John Seymer
John Seymer was born probably about 1535. Where he was born is not known, but he lived at Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire from his first marriage until his death. Sawbridgeworth was a rural parish on the Essex border, about twenty five miles northeast of London, and was locally pronounced "Sapsearth."
On 11 November 1560 he married Jone Androw. She was buried on 3 October 1561 and left no children. On 9 May 1562 he married Dyzory Porter, who outlived him.
Their children were baptised at Sawbridgeworth: Annis on 6 March 1562/3, Jone on 18 October 1567, Mary on 28 October 1570, Robert on 30 November 1573, John on 30 September 1576, Dorothy on 6 September 1579, Peter on 11 February 1582/3 and William on 9 February 1583/4. Mary probably died young. William was buried in August 1587.
He made his will on 7 October 1605 and was buried on 23 October: "John Seymer ye elder was buryed ye xxiijth day of October." The will was proved on 13 November 1605.
