Joseph Albert Richardson
Joseph Albert Richardson was born on 13 November 1858 in Texas. He went by Albert, the name cut on his gravestone.
He married Martha Dorcas Collins, a Georgia-born woman six years younger, the daughter of William Jasper Collins of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. They had eight children between 1889 and 1905: William Albert "Allie", Beulah, Simon Eppley "Sim", Charles M. and Jasper Marcus "Mark" (both given 1898), Clyde Herman, Guy Russell and Edith Ethel. Sim was born in 1895 in what is now Atoka County, then part of the Choctaw Nation in Indian Territory.
The family later settled in the Creek country of eastern Oklahoma, around Hitchita in McIntosh County and Henryetta in Okmulgee County, a few miles apart. Their son Guy died in 1925, at about twenty-two.
Albert died at Hitchita on 16 January 1931, at seventy-two. He is buried in the Hitchita-Lackey Cemetery. Martha outlived him by twenty-four years and was buried beside him in 1955, under the same stone.
