Julia Minerva Horton
Julia Minerva Horton, called Judy, was born in 1845 in Pennsylvania, one of a Brookville family of at least six: her sisters Martha, Sarah, Melissa and Celia and her brother Haskal Horton outlived her. She married David Wakefield Haight, a veteran of the 57th Pennsylvania, and bore seven children at Clarington between 1868 and 1887. David died in 1906.
She died in 1925, aged 80, at the home of her daughter Katherine at 10 Longfellow Avenue in Bradford, after six months of illness. The Bradford paper listed her survivors: three sons, Harry of Endeavor, G. H. of Ludlow and David of Bradford; four daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Nulph, Miss Katherine Haight, Mrs. Myrtle Batsford and Miss Sarah Haight, all of Bradford; four sisters, Mrs. Martha Gorley and Mrs. Sarah Snick of Brookville, Mrs. Melissa Larouch of Detroit and Mrs. Celia Gillespie of Cleveland; and her brother Haskal Horton of Brookville. The funeral was at the house, and she was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery at Bradford, far from her husband at Clarington.
