Karolina Vesper

d. 1854 · Tarutino, Bessarabia
Died 1854
Children include Rosina

Karolina Vesper was born at Tarutino, the first and largest of the German colonies of southern Bessarabia, founded in 1814 and named after a Russian victory over Napoleon. Her burial entry gives Tarutino as her birthplace. Her surname is written Vesper in her burial and in her children's baptisms, and Nesper in the marriage book of the Alt Elft parish.

On 29 December 1831 she married Friedrich Hillius, a Prussian-born colonist who had come from Kishinev, and they lived at Neu Elft. She bore at least eight children there: Johann in January 1835, Friedrich in April 1837, Karl, who died in February 1839 before his second birthday, Rosina on 27 October 1839, Gottlieb in May 1842, Katharina in February 1845, Anna Christina in January 1848 and Susanna Carolina in February 1851, who died that October.

Karolina Hillius, born Vesper, died at Neu Elft on 9 April 1854. Her husband married again that June. Her daughter Rosina married Johann Riethmüller in November 1856.
