Kirsti Joensdatter
Born about 1753 in Gran in Hadeland, and married on 11 October 1776 to Amund Erichsen of Baarud; the register enters her Pigen of Smidshamer, which in this family's records has repeatedly meant the farm a young woman was serving on rather than the one her family held, so it should not be read as her birthplace without something else behind it.
She is named as the mother at two christenings, her son Amund at Tesebakken on 26 December 1787 and her daughter Anne at Tislebakken on 2 December 1792, and at both of them a Kari Johnsdatter of Næs stands among the witnesses, which is what a sister at the font looks like.
Her husband was buried from Grimsrud in April 1795 and she did not remarry. The census of February 1801 finds her at forty-eight as Husmoder of the first household on that farm, entered Enke 1ste gang and, in the occupation column, BRUGER GAARDEN, uses the farm. Four children are with her, Erich of twenty-four, Anders of seventeen, Amund of twelve and Anne of eight, and a servant girl of fifteen. A woman running a Hadeland farm in her own name in 1801 is not commonplace, and the enumerator wrote it down without comment.
